- Microsoft® Windows® XP
- Minimum 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended)
- Up to 50 MB of hard disk space for installation, 15 MB to run the program
- Minimum 800 x 600 screen resolution
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 SP1 or later must be installed on your computer, though it does not need to be your default.
- Internet functionality requires dial-up or broadband Internet access (provided separately). Local or long-distance charges may apply.

Setup Guide - Install Windows Live Messenger 8
This section explains how you can install Windows Live Messenger on your computer.
First choose your download above and open the setup package file. You can either run it directly from your browser or save the file on your computer and then run it (doubleclick or right mouse button and then open).
Once the Windows Live Messenger Setup Wizard is running you will see this screen. As already suggested by the Setup Wizard, just click next to continue.
The next screen will show the Terms of Use and Privacy Statement between you and Microsoft. Quickly read through it and then select 'I accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Statement' (if you agree).
You can choose some 'additional features and settings', depending on your needs you can check or uncheck them. The Windows Live Toolbar is a toolbar for Internet Explorer, some people like it, others find it annoying. Since it is a seperate product and you can always install it later unchecking it is advised. When everything is the way you like it, click next to continue.
Windows Live Messenger will now install, just wait and don't touch anything until it is finished :)
Installation is finished, unless you chose to install the Windows Live Toolbar, Messenger will now launch. You can sign in with your account or create a new one. Have fun using Windows Live Messenger!
